USDA Animal Welfare Act

19 Feb 2022 10:44 | Rebecca Rosen (Administrator)

Many of you may already know that the USDA has released new proposed rules for birds not held for scientific research. It does not appear that even MBTA birds will be exempt as it only affects a small number of stakeholders. The PFA is working diligently to craft an response once the comment period is open. To do this we will need as much feedback as possible from our members. If you are unaware of these changes to the Animal Welfare Act, feel free to download the unpublished proposed rules here from the federal register:  https://www.federalregister.gov/public-inspection/2022-03565/standards-for-birds-not-bred-for-use-in-research-under-the-animal-welfare-act
